This publication is intended to help Outdoor School directors, field instructors, school districts, school teachers, and other outdoor or environmental education decision-makers consider why they might expand their curricula to include art and creative writing instruction more prominently and how it can be done to meet their specific needs and overcome their obstacles.
Aligning Art with Required Learning Standards
Toolkit for Educators (2016)
Educators are the key to our mission's success. They encourage students to connect with their outdoor environment while eliciting their creativity in ways that can be published statewide in the anthology. For this reason, we developed this Toolkit for Educators (2016) in partnership with the Portland Metro STEM Partnership and Straub Environmental Center to help teachers tie their environmental education lessons to art and writing activities that align with the state Common Core, Next Generation Science Standards, and Oregon Environmental Literacy Plan.
